Ma Văn Kháng

Ma Văn Khang ( born December 1, 1936 in Kim Lien, Nghe An) is a Vietnamese writer. His birth name is định Trọng Đoàn.

At age 13, he began his service in the Vietnam People's Army in the fight against the French colonial power. After studying literature at the Pedagogical University of Hanoi, he was director of a secondary school in the province of Lao Cai. From 1976 he was editor of the publishing house workers and head of the foreign literature section of the Vietnamese Writers' Association.

Ma Văn Khang has brought out in Vietnam since the late 1970s, more than ten novels and several short story collections. For Mua Rung trong lá Vuon (1986, dt " A garden at the time of the falling leaves" ) he won the prize of the Vietnamese Writers' Association for the " Best Novel ". "Best short story collection " in 1995 his Trăng soi San NHO (Eng. " moonlight on the small farm " ) awarded. In 1998 he was awarded the S.E.A. Write Award.
