Ma Wanfu

Ma Wanfu (马万福, Mǎ WanFu; * 1849, † 1934) was a Dongxiang imam of the village Guoyuan (果园 村) in Hezhou (today's autonomous district of the Dongxiang Autonomous County Linxia Hui, Gansu Province). He studied in Mecca and founded in 1888 the Ikhwan ( Yihewani伊赫瓦尼) movement, also known as "new sect" (Chinese Xinjiao pai新 教派or Xinxinjiao新 新教) is referred to, and spread over Gansu, Ningxia and Qinghai. It rejects Sufism.
