Mabel Gay

Mabel Gay Tamayo ( born May 5, 1983 in Santiago de Cuba ) is a Cuban athlete.

Your first big success came the triple jumper Gay in 2001 with the victory in the World Junior Championships in Bydgoszcz. A year later, she won the title at the World Junior Championships in Kingston, Jamaica. At the World Championships in Paris in 2003 it was a new personal best jump of 14.52 m at the end of Fifth. In the same year she won the title at the Pan American Games in 2003. At the World Indoor Championships in Budapest in 2004, she jumped to ninth place.

At the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing she was eliminated in the first round and was so at the end of Fifteenth. At the World Championships in Berlin in 2009, she won with 14.61 meters behind her compatriot Yargelis Savigne the silver medal. She lay with her length just below her personal best jump of 14.66 meters, situated on 8 March 2007 in Havana. On September 1, 2011 in Daegu, Gay improved this by one centimeter to 14.67 m and ranking it at the World Athletics Championships in 2011 to fourth place. Participation in the 2012 Olympic Summer Games in London, she had to cancel because of an ankle injury.
