Mabel Parton

Mabel Bramwell Parton ( born July 22, 1881 in London as Mabel Squire; † August 12, 1962 in Surrey ) was an English tennis player.

Life

Parton came on 22 July 1881 in London to the world. In 1906 she married the lawyer and tennis player George Ernest Parton. From this year on, she participated in the Wimbledon Championships in part. In individual they reached the semi-finals in 1912, where they defeated Dora Boothby in two sets. At the Olympic Games in Stockholm in 1912 Parton won the bronze medal in singles.

After the First World War Parton could move again in 1920 to the semifinals of Wimbledon, but had to admit defeat in this year Elizabeth Ryan. In 1924 she separated from Ernest Parton and married Theodore Mavrogordato, with whom she had reached the semifinals in mixed doubles competition already at the Wimbledon Championships 1913.

Parton died in 1962 at the age of 81 years in the county of Surrey.
