Mabel Poulton

Mabel Poulton ( born July 29, 1901 in London, † December 21, 1994 ibid ) was an English film actress.

Poulton worked as a stenographer before she came to the film. Her debut had, like Betty Balfour, in George Pearsons Nothing Else Matters (1920). It developed in the 1920s became a popular star of the British film. In 1928 she starred alongside Ivor Novello starred in Adrian Brunel's The Constant Nymph and received excellent reviews for her portrayal. She also appeared in films outside the UK on: in Âme d'artiste (1924 ) by Germaine Dulac and Night Shapes (1929 ) by Hans Steinhoff.

With the beginning of the sound film era ended her career. Your strong cockney accent did not fit the characters, with which it was associated; an image change did not succeed. In 1931 it was no longer occupied. The attempt at a comeback in 1936 brought her only roles in two movies, then was finally concluded.
