Mable John

Mable John ( born November 3, 1930 in Bastrop ( Louisiana)) is an American rhythm and blues and gospel singer.

Life and work

Mable John is sister of Little Willie John, and was the first singer in the late 1950s by Berry Gordy at Motown its precursor label Tamla was published. Their first single was 1961 Who Would not Love a Man ​​Like This, a blues number, but, like their other recordings for Tamla, were not very successful. From 1962 she was a longtime member of the Ray Charles backing Raelettes. Her popular songs include Your Good Thing Is About to End ( 1966 debuted at # 6 in the R & B charts ), and Running Out (1968). 1966-68 it took for the label Stax Records on, then turned to Christian music and founded Fourth House Music, a music publishing and artist agency. In 1994 she was captured by the Rhythm & Blues Foundation in their Hall of Fame.
