Machame

Machame is a village south-west of Kibo at the foot of Mount Kilimanjaro in Tanzania. The place itself is insignificant, however, namesake of the most scenic climb to Kilimanjaro and the Machame gate of Mount Kilimanjaro National Park as the starting point of the route. End of the 19th century served Machame (then Madschame ) as a mission station, worked here, among other things Ewald Ovir.
