Macintosh IIx

The Macintosh IIx was introduced by Apple in 1988 and was an improved version of the Macintosh II The Motorola 68020 CPU and 68881 FPU were exchanged by each 16 MHz clocked 68030 CPU and 68882 FPU. In addition, there was a 1.44 MB floppy disk drive, instead of the previous 800 KB drive.

The original price of the IIx was $ 7,769 or 9,300 for a version with 40 MB hard drive. The Mac IIx, like his predecessors, 0.25 KB L1 cache, a 16 MHz bus (What CPU speed equivalent ) and supported max. System 7.5.5.

The IIx was the second of three Macintosh models which had in the case 6, NuBus slots. The last was the Macintosh IIfx.

Apple 's code name for the IIx contained " Spock " and " Stratos". Support and spare parts for the unit were set on 31 August 1998.
