Macky Sall

Cherif Macky Sall ( born December 11, 1961 in Fatick ) is a Senegalese politician. He was elected on 25 March 2012 as the President of Senegal.

Life

Sall studied geology. He is married and has three children.

Policy

Sall began his political career in the Democratic Party of Senegal, where he rose quickly. Until 2002, he was mayor of Fatick, then Minister of Mines, Energy and Water (2001-2003) and from 2003 to 2004 Minister of the Interior. On 21 April 2004 he was appointed after the dismissal of Idrissa Seck by President Abdoulaye Wade to the Prime Minister. He held until June 19, 2007 This Office. In the first round of voting on 26 February 2012, he received surprising 26.6 percent of the vote and thus achieved the second best result behind incumbent Abdoulaye Wade, who received 34.8 percent of the vote.
