Macrurosaurus ( " long-tailed lizard" ) is a genus of sauropod dinosaur from the Lower Cretaceous period of Europe.

This Titanosaurier lived 140-99 million years ago ( Valanginian to Albian ) in present-day England. Like all sauropods was also Macrurosaurus herbivores and quadruped. Since only a few fossil skeleton fragments are known, it is estimated that paleontologists of a length of 12 meters and a height of 4 meters from what is relatively small for a sauropod.

There are only a few fossil vertebrae of the tail of this dinosaur known which were discovered near Cambridge on the Isle of Wight. Based on these fossils, the type species Macrurosaurus semnus in 1876 by ​​Harry Govier Seeley first described scientifically. The genus is dubium as a noun, that is, there are too few finds for accurate genus description available.
