Mad-Croc Racing

Mad- Croc Racing was a motorsport team, which was created to participate in the FIA GT1 World Championship 2010. It arose from a collaboration between the Belgian Selleslagh Racing Team with the Luxembourg team DKR Engineering under the naming of the energy drink manufacturer Mad- Croc.

History

For the newly advertised FIA GT1 World Championship cooperated Belgian Selleslagh Racing Team (SRT ) and the Luxembourg team DKR Engineering in order to make the regulations requiring two vehicles per team can. Both teams each had a Corvette C6.R GT1 category, and wrote under the naming Mad- Croc Racing in the championship one. Domicile and nationality of the team were officially taken over by SRT, but the two teams put their vehicle is a self-contained. Main sponsor and namesake of the team was the energy drink manufacturer Mad- Croc, whose design was used for the coating of both Corvette, whose surfaces were modeled crocodile leather. The vehicles carrying official term Corvette Z06.

At the time of founding the two relatively small private teams SRT and DKR Engineering were able to build on years of experience with the Corvette used in national GT series and in the FIA ​​GT Championship. Nevertheless, the 2010 season was very successful. The inadequate financial resources of the team took care of many driver changes: Twelve different drivers drove for Mad- Croc Racing. Only the closely linked with the main sponsor Pertti Kuismanen completed all the races of the year.

Only a podium result, the team could achieve in 2010 as Jos Menten and Xavier Maassen won the qualifying race at Spa- Francorchamps from pole position. Best rider of the team was Jos Menten, however also scored points with other teams. In the team standings, the team would have the penultimate rank assigned if it had not been disqualified for a absenteeism of the two vehicles at the season finale.

After the 2010 season, Mad- Croc Racing was dissolved. SRT and DKR Engineering parted, but both sat in the following year again separately at first vehicles in the FIA ​​GT1 World Championship in. To a renewed cooperation between the two teams came when DRK Engineering supported by Munnich Motorsport changed to two Lamborghini Murciélago and the DKR Corvette along with SRT as Exim Bank Team China was committed.

Car Number 11

The Corvette with start number 11 has been used by DKR Engineering. It was the chassis C6R -002, which the team used since 2008. The drivers were only announced shortly before the debut of the GT1 World Championship. The Dutch driver Xavier Maassen GT was confirmed as the first, whereas an obligation of the former Brazilian Formula 1 Fahres Enrique Bernoldi failed. A few days before the first event Alex Müller was named as a partner of Maassen. Müller, however, was already at the second event in the UK replaced by Nicolas Armindo, who had already been tested with the team before the season, but at first could produce sufficient financing. With Mike Hezemans Maassen received the third round in the Czech Republic is already the third different partner. Hezemans moved to the second common round in France back to the other Corvette Team Phoenix Racing / Cars Port.

For the races in Belgium and Germany, Maassen said the vehicle ridden by Jos Menten. Together they achieved the pole position and victory in the qualification race at Spa- Francorchamps, but fell in the main race off after a puncture. It was the last of three point standings of the year for Maassen. In Portugal, Menten was replaced by Julien Jousse.

For the flyaway races in Brazil two local drivers were committed with Sérgio Jimenez and Claudio Dahruj. At the finals in Argentina Maassen and Briton Thomas Serwin were announced as a driver, but because one of the two had not timely paid the agreed amount of money to the team, the car was withdrawn. This started not Mad Croc Corvette in the finals.

The Corvette C6.R with chassis number C6R -006 wore the # 12 and was used by SRT. The occupation of the vehicle was released before the season started: The Finnish amateur racers Pertti Kuismannen (born in 1943) should be sharing the cockpit with the then British Corvette factory driver Oliver Gavin during the season. At the races, in which Gavin had other commitments in the American Le Mans Series, the former Finnish Formula 1 driver Mika Salo should go together with Kuismanen.

In the middle of the season Gavin ended his contract with Mad- Croc Racing completed after three race weekends. Salo left the team also after three events. Both professional racers were not able to obtain good results together with Kuismanen. For the event in Portugal known from the French GT Championship Laurent Cazenave partner of Kuismanen was. The remaining three races of the season should deny the experienced Dutch touring car driver Duncan Huisman. Due to an accident Kuismanens in training for the final weekend in Argentina, the Corvette was so badly damaged that they could not participate in the race.

Results

Team classification

Because of absence of one of the two vehicles at the season finale Mad- Croc Racing was disqualified and the team discussed all the points of the season. After the penultimate event of the year in Brazil, the team was 17 points on the tenth of twelve seats in front of the Swiss Racing Team with five points and the already disqualified team of Phoenix Racing / Cars Port.

Drivers' championship

Only four riders managed to score points with Mad - Croc Racing in the 2010 season. Best rider of the team was Jos Menten, but could also reach the point standings with other teams. Xavier Maassen reached the most points with Mad- Croc Racing.

Manufacturers' Championship

Both teams that began in the FIA ​​GT1 World Championship Chevrolet Corvette were disqualified. Since the manufacturers' championship, however, was announced by the SRO Motorsports Group as " Trophy" and not by the Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile brand World Cup, the results of Mad- Croc Racing and Phoenix Racing / Cars Port were not deleted in this summary.
