Mad Money is an American detective comedy from 2008. Directed by Callie Khouri, the screenplay was written by Glenn Gers.

Action

Bridget Cardigan is married to Don, who loses his job. She learns that the couple threatened with the loss of property house. Bridget look hard a work until it gets the job of a cleaning lady in the Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City. There, among other things, used banknotes are destroyed. Cardigan learns her colleagues Nina Brewster, a single mother of two children, and know the much younger Jackie Truman. The three women steal together to devastating bills by using an ingenious strategy to outwit the ubiquitous surveillance mechanisms. Their husbands, however careless and spend a lot of money, Jackie's friend buys shares $ 10,000 and Cardigan buys a valuable ring. This makes the financial suspicious. The women find themselves at the sight of investigators and trying desperately to destroy the bills at the last moment. This is possible but not in time, all members of the group except Bridget be arrested. Bridget contacted a lawyer friend who saves the other by a clever deal of punishment. At the end we find out that Bridget was even able to save a great deal of money in a hiding place.

James Berardinelli wrote on ReelViews, the film is a comedy thriller, in which the elements of a detective film are uninteresting and that of a comedy - not funny. He was " lukewarm" and will assist implausible; its structure is so " incredibly stupid " ( "mind- bogglingly idiotic " ) that one wonders why anyone stay until the end of the movies. Diane Keaton always play themselves what "a little boring" is. Katie Holmes gave the impression of an immature actress who desperately wants to be taken seriously.

Wesley Lovell wrote on www.oscarguy.com, Keaton had chances for an Oscar even if they mitspiele in " particularly banal cheese ". However, he did not think this film could cause this kind of enthusiasm.

Background

The film is a remake of the British comedy Hot Money from the year 2001, which was inspired by true events. He was shot in Shreveport ( Louisiana) from April 2007 to June 2007. His cost of production was estimated at 22 million U.S. dollars. The film opened in theaters in the USA on 18 January 2008.
