Mad World

Mad World (English for " Crazy World " ) is a song by British pop group Tears for Fears from the year 1982. It was written by Roland Orzabal and sung by bassist Curt Smith. The producers were Chris Hughes and Ross Cullum.

The song was the third single and the first hit of the band. He reached the third place in the UK singles charts in November 1982. Both Mad World as well as its B-side Ideas as Opiates were on the debut LP The Hurting, which appeared in March 1983. The song was ultimately to Tears for Fears ' first international hit, reaching 1982-1983 the Top 40 in various countries.

Nearly two decades later, the song became popular again when he was re-recorded by composer Michael Andrews and Gary Jules for the soundtrack to the movie Donnie Darko as a ballad. This version reached # 1 in December 2003 in the UK and became an international hit.
