Madarasz's Tiger Parrot
The Madarasz - binding Parakeet ( Psittacella madaraszi ), also known as dandruff head parrot is a bird species of the genus binding parakeets. The species is endemic to the island of New Guinea.
It is named after the Hungarian Gyula Madarász ornithologists, who made several research trips to Southeast Asia in the 19th century.
Features
The ground color of the plumage is green. The beak is bluish, the eyes red. The male has a brown head with yellow spots on the neck. In contrast to the very similar Olivpapagei the brown color of the head does not extend down to the belly. The female has a green head with a bluish forehead. From the head of a brown-green harness runs down your spine. The young birds resemble the female.
Habitat
Tropical mountain forests at an altitude step from 1150 - 2500 m.
