Maddaloni

Maddaloni is a town ( comune ) with 39 247 inhabitants ( 31 December 2012) in the province of Caserta in Campania. Maddaloni is about five kilometers southeast of Caserta, about 25 kilometers northeast of Naples. It lies at the foot of the mountains Tifata ( Monti di Maddaloni). The municipality borders the province of Naples.

History

The city is believed to have been founded in the 8th century. Since that time, fortifications are detectable. Near Maddaloni the ancient town Calatia.

Traffic

Maddaloni is crossed by the Strada Statale 7. The Strada Statale 265 forms a bypass from northeast to southwest clockwise. South of Maddaloni runs the Autostrada A30 Caserta direction Fisciano. A rail connection exists for both the railway line from Caserta to Benevento and Avellino after.
