As it turns out, this is about humanity as Christopher Floyd called Comet really a space ark containing millions in crystals stored spirits of extraterrestrial life forms. The Daa'muren had to give up their home, as close to its central star manifested a black hole. When her Lavaplanet was doomed, they could save themselves by giving up their body and creation of such " converter " said space arks. On Earth, stranded, now try the disembodied spirits of the crystals to create a suitable to their spirits and earthly realities of life by manipulating the local flora and fauna by radiation.

On the surviving humans walking only in the hundreds of thousands, however this radiation is a stultifying effect. Thus, human civilization falls into a few centuries back in a Bronze Age Stadium. Due to the ice age, is dominated by the struggle for daily survival, while many animals, especially insects, mutate and pose additional hazards. Only in some underground bunker colonies people have survived the centuries by the complete isolation from the outside world are indeed now highly vulnerable to germs and bacteria, but is protected against the stultifying radiation could technically develop.

Matthew Drax off in 2012 to a flying squadron to watch the ( failed ) shelling of the comet from the ISS, decides to move the impact of the comet due to (initially) unknown causes in the year 2516th The Ice Age is coming to an end, the stultifying radiation has declined for decades, barbarian hordes roam the country, in parallel, even men have joined together to form larger communities in the ruins of former cities and established some trade. Matthew Drax, who has survived the crash of his plane, is rescued by the barbarian Aruula from the wreck, which from then accompanied him through the post-apocalyptic world.
