The Madejski Stadium is a football stadium in the English town of Reading, Berkshire. It offers 24 161 spectators covered seats and is the home stadium of FC Reading.


The stadium was inaugurated in Reading on 22 August 1998. Is named the stadium after entrepreneur John Madejski, the club president of FC Reading. It is located on the southern outskirts close to the M4 motorway and was built on the site of a former landfill. Around the stadium ventilation fans are embedded in order to derive the rising methane gas into the soil. The cost was around £ 50 million. The Rugby Club Richmond FC played in the 1998/99 season in the stadium of Reading. In the Madejski Stadium regularly hosts concerts, including the Summer XS Festival.
