Madison is a city in New Haven County in the U.S. state of Connecticut with 18 269 inhabitants ( 2010 census ) on the Long Iceland Sound shoreline Connecticut, the city has a central location. First settlers arrived in Madison in 1641. During the 18th century, Madison was known as East Guilford until it was raised in 1826 to the city.
