Madison County (Georgia)

The Madison County is a county located in the state of Georgia in the United States. The administrative headquarters ( County Seat) is Danielsville, named after General Allen Daniel.

Geography

The County is located north-northeast of the geographic center of Georgia, is located in the southeast about 40 miles from South Carolina and has an area of 740 square kilometers, of which four square kilometers of water surfaces. It is bordered clockwise to the following counties: Hart County, Elbert County, Oglethorpe County, Clarke County, Jackson County, Banks County and Franklin County.

History

Madison County was formed on December 5, 1811 as the 38th county in Georgia from parts of Clarke County, of Elbert County, Franklin County, the Jackson County and Oglethorpe County.
