Madison Kodiaks

The Madison Kodiaks were an American ice hockey team from Madison, Wisconsin. The team played in the 1999/2000 season in the United Hockey League.

History

The team was founded in 1999 as a franchise of the United Hockey League. The team was owned by 14 individuals and was reintroduced as a successor to the Madison Monsters. Their only season ended the Kodiaks on the third place in the Western Division. In the subsequent playoffs for the Colonial Cup they failed after a victory over the Rockford IceHogs in the second round at eventual champions Flint Generals in the best- of-seven series with 2:4 victories. Subsequently, the team was relocated to Kalamazoo, Michigan, where it participated under the name Kalamazoo Wings in the game operation of the UHL. There, the team filled the gap that was left by the traditional club Michigan K- Wings of the International Hockey League in the same year.
