Madlib

Madlib ( born October 24, 1973 in Oxnard, California; civil Otis Jackson Jr.) is a living in Los Angeles DJ, producer, rapper and multi-instrumentalist. It occurs under a variety of pseudonyms in appearance, including Quasimoto, Yesterdays New Quintet, The Loopdigga, DJ Rels or The Beat Konducta, as well as a group member of Lootpack. Similarly, Madlib collaborated with various artists under other names, such as MF DOOM as Madvillain together with or with J Dilla as Jaylib. Its extremely varied style repertoire includes a wide range of jazz, funk, soul, hip - hop to Brazilian music. Madlib 's younger brother Oh No is also a rapper and producer.

Biography

Jackson grew up as a child of the musician Otis and Seneca Jackson in Oxnard, Southern California. Early on, he moved to Los Angeles because there is no hip-hop scene was in Oxnard, with which he could do something. Later he met Peanut Butter Wolf, who promptly gave him a contract in terms of creativity and sat him no limits. His first release as a very awkward MC on the album " Throw ' Em Up" the group Hood 2 No Good. The first major publications were made as an MC and producer for Lootpack.

His first album release in 2000 under the name Quasimoto, The Unseen, caused a stir among critics. With the emergence he rapped over beats slowed, the recording was later re-accelerated, so that his voice sounds artificially high and fast. Madlib discussed in an interview with the hip-hop magazine Juice that his friends jokingly call him because of his deep voice, " hip- hop 's Barry White ." Since he could not take kindly to its natural pitch, he came up with the idea to pitch them.

The group consists of five members, according to Cover: Ahmad Miller, Monk Hughes, Malik Flavors, Joe McDuphrey, and Otis Jackson Jr., his real name. He used the fictional musician later to accommodate tribute albums for other artists under their name.

As a DJ he published in 2002 a collection of old dub and reggae tracks ( Blunted in the Bomb Shelter ) and 2003 a remix of Blue Note Records releases ( Shades of Blue ). Once along with J Dilla and MF DOOM as Jaylib as Madvillain, the second was commercially successful and also found greater favor with critics.
