Madonna is the eponymous title of the debut album of Madonna from the year 1983. In Europe, it was re-released in 1985 as " The First Album " and 2001 reissued under the original title.

Background

The first demo recordings of Everybody, Burning Up and Is not No Big Deal completed in 1980 with Stephen Bray, two years after Madonna Detroit had left to make career in New York. Together they founded the group Breakfast Club. There, Madonna had not only keyboard and drums played, but also sang and wrote the first song. With these demo tapes she imagined at Seymour Stein, president of the record label Sire Records and immediately received a contract for two singles.

With the last two singles Borderline and Lucky Star Madonna definitively established as a pop star in the early 1980s - although they should celebrate their breakthrough as a superstar until a year later with Like a Virgin.

The eight tracks on this album are consistently danceable and collect only the claim to this concept, Madonna went back several times in their careers " to be fun and a good time to prepare. " - Last on her dance album Confessions on a Dance Floor (2005 ) to the promo tour she again Everybody aufführte live.

The album, which originally was to be called Lucky Star is dedicated to Madonna's father. It sold over eight million copies and was reissued in 2001 as a remastered version with original title and cover, as well as two bonus tracks.

In 2006, the album was named one of the Capital Gold's all-time top 500 on the British charts.
