Mae Lao District

Amphoe Mae Lao ( in Thai: อำเภอ แม่ ลาว ) is a district ( Amphoe - administrative district ) of the province of Chiang Rai. The Chiang Rai province is located in the extreme north of the northern region of Thailand.

Geography

Neighboring districts are (from north clockwise): Amphoe Mueang Chiang Rai, the, Phan and Mae Suai, Chiang Rai Province.

History

The group was founded on 31 May 1993 as a sub-district ( King Amphoe ), consisting of the four Tambon Dong Mada, Chom Mok Kaeo, Bua Sali and Pa Ko Dam of the circle Mueang Chiang Rai. On December 5, 1996 Pa Daet received the full Amphoe status.

Management

The circle is divided into five subdistricts (tambon ), which are further subdivided into 63 villages ( Muban ).

There are two small towns ( thesaban tambon) in the district:

  • Mae Lao consists of parts of the Tambon Dong Mada.
  • Pa Ko Dam consists of parts of tambon Pa Ko Dam and Chom Mok Kaeo.

There are also five " Tambon Administrative Organizations" (TAO, องค์การ บริหาร ส่วน ตำบล - administrative organizations) in the district.
