Mae Taeng District

Amphoe Mae Taeng ( in Thai: อำเภอ แม่แตง ) is a district ( Amphoe - administrative district ) in the northern part of the province of Chiang Mai. The Chiang Mai province is located in the northern region of Thailand.

Geography

Neighboring districts are (from north clockwise): Amphoe Chiang Dao which, Phrao, Doi Saket, San Sai, Mae Rim and Samoeng Chiang Mai province, and Pai of Mae Hong Son province

History

1892 Khwaeng Mueang Kuet ( เมือง กื้ ด ) was founded and renamed 1894 in Mueang Kaen ( เมือง แกน ). Beginning of the 20th century, the counties outside of Bangkok from Khwaeng been renamed to Amphoe. Since 1907, therefore, existed the Amphoe San Maha Phon ( สัน มหาพน ). This was eventually renamed in 1939 in Mae Tang.

Management

The circle is divided into 13 subdistricts (tambon ), which are further subdivided into 128 villages ( Muban ).

San Maha Phon and Mueang Kaen Phatthana have a small-town status. San Maha Phon consists of parts of tambon San Maha Phon and Khilek. Mueang Kaen Phatthana consists of the Tambon Cho Lae and parts of the tambon Intha Khin.

There are two small towns ( thesaban tambon) in the district:

  • San Maha Phon consists of parts of tambon San Maha Phon and Khilek.
  • Mueang Kaen Phatthana consists of the Tambon Cho Lae and parts of the tambon Intha Khin.

In addition, there are eleven " Tambon Administrative Organizations" (TAO, องค์การ บริหาร ส่วน ตำบล - administrative organizations) in the district.
