Maella

Maella is a Spanish municipality in the province of Zaragoza Aragón Autonomous Region. It is located in the comarca of Bajo Aragón - Caspe about 21 km southeast of Caspe on the Rio Matarraña and had 1977 inhabitants on 1 January 2013.

History

In 1838, the Battle of Maella found Maella between Carlists and liberals instead.

Language

Located in the Franja de Aragón municipality is bilingual. The original language is Catalan mentioned in his Maellano Aragonese local variant.

Economy

In the territory of the municipality of growing peaches prevails. In addition, olives, cereals and almonds are grown.

Personalities

From the sculptor Pablo Gargallo Maella (1881-1934) and the glass artist Antoni Pons i come Cirac ( 1921-1998 ).
