Magburaka

Magburaka is a city in Sierra Leone. It is the capital of the district of Tonkolili and is located in the northern province.

Location

The town lies on the River Rokel and is the intersection of the roads from Freetown to Kabala and Makeni after Koidu. The city is located in the center of Sierra Leone.

Population

The population belongs to the people of the Temne. The population grew from about 1963 6371 1974 10.347 1985 11.006 on people. It is estimated today that there are around 15,000 inhabitants.

Economy

The city is a trade center for kola nuts, palm oil, rice and tomatoes.

Infrastructure

In addition to the usual administrative buildings of a district capital, there is a hospital and a teacher training college.
