Magdalena Kopp
Magdalena Kopp ( born 1948 in Neu-Ulm ) is a German photographer from Neu-Ulm. She was the wife of well-known as " Carlos " terrorist Ilich Ramírez Sánchez.
Magdalena Kopp grew up as the daughter of a postal worker and a waitress in the Bavarian / Swabian Neu-Ulm. There she completed after leaving school trained as a photographer. In 1967 she went to Frankfurt am Main. There, she associated the early 1970s in left-wing student groups and lived with a friend and daughter shared in a communal apartment. She worked at the publisher Red Star and one of the founders of the Frankfurt " Revolutionary Cells " (RZ ). Members of this group, which also Hans- Joachim Klein, Wilfried Böse and Brigitte Kuhlmann belonged next to her new friend Johannes Weinrich, were in on the raid on the OPEC Conference in 1975 and in the kidnapping of an Air France plane from Tel Aviv to Entebbe involved in 1976.
With Weinrich, who in 1975 participated in a failed attack on an Israeli plane at the airport in Paris, she appeared in 1978 under abroad. Weinrich was the internationally wanted terrorist Ilich Ramírez Sánchez, known as Carlos friends.
From 1979, Magdalena Kopp was romantically involved with and worked with Carlos in his inner circle. During her detention Carlos committed in retaliation several attacks on French institutions with numerous casualties.
Soon after her release from prison in 1985, she returned to Carlos and lived with him and the daughter born in 1986 in the Syrian capital Damascus. In 1991, Carlos in Lebanon his marriage to Magdalena Kopp officially register according to Islamic law. Magdalena Kopp was not present at the official act.
Magdalena Kopp arrived in 1992 with her daughter in Carlos ' homeland Venezuela and lived there for three years in contact with Carlos ' family. After 1994 Carlos was arrested in Sudan and extradited to France, she cooperated with German authorities and renounced Carlos. End of 1995, Magdalena Kopp returned with her daughter to New Ulm, where she has lived ever since. She introduced herself to the investigating authorities as a witness available. Carlos writes every year a birthday card to his daughter.
