Magdalena Schmidt

Magdalena Schmidt ( * June 30, 1949 in Lauchhammer, after marriage Magdalena Jacob ) is a former German equipment gymnast who won an Olympic bronze medal in 1968. She started for the SC Dynamo Berlin.

Magdalena Schmidt visited the Children's and Youth Sports School in Forest, which also Karin Janz attended. How Janz also switched Magdalena Schmidt for SC Dynamo Berlin coach Juergen Heritz. 1965 took Schmidt in the GDR Championship third place on the uneven bars. In 1967, she took on both the uneven bars and in the horse jump in third place. In 1968, she was part of the GDR team at the 1968 Olympic Games in Mexico. Maritta Bauer Schmidt, Karin Janz, Marianne Noack, Magdalena Schmidt, Ute Strong and Erika Zuchold occupied in the team standings to third place behind the squads from the Soviet Union and Czechoslovakia. In the individual competition Magdalena Schmidt reached the 29th place in the all around.

Magdalena Schmidt was the first kindergarten teacher, but then studied political science and was legal adviser of the Berlin sports facility operation. She is married to footballer Michael Jacob.
