Magdeburger Telemann-Festtage

The Magdeburg Telemann Festival days in honor of the composer Georg Philipp Telemann Magdeburg since 1990 hosted an annual basis in two hard days.

The Magdeburg Telemann Festival days were organized in 1962 Telemann and the German Cultural Union for the first time by the Working Group Georg Philipp. Since 1967, the third feast days, directed the working group together with the city of Magdeburg from the events. Most of Telemann's birthday, March 14, held celebrations were to 1990 occurred irregularly (1962, 1965, 1967, 1970, 1973, 1977, 1981, 1984, 1987) and changed its name several times (1981: Telemann ceremony of the GDR, 1984: Telemann Festival days of the GDR, since 1992 Magdeburg Telemann Festival days).

The program of Telemann Festival days consists of performances and interpretations of works by the composer. Another part of the season is the music of science. In this context are: the International Scientific conferences organized since 1996 Telemann academies for music students and young musicians and the Opera Academy "Georg Philipp Telemann: The Patient Socrates ".
