Magic is (English for magic or sorcery ), the 15th studio album by American rock musician Bruce Springsteen and was released on September 28, 2007.

History

Apart from the song Long Walk Home, which was already played on the Seeger Sessions Band Tour in a different form, all the tracks on the album were written towards the end of 2006. The selection of songs was left to producer Brendan O'Brien. These selected tracks were then added to the Atlanta 's Southern Tracks Studios in about eight weeks. For organizational and logistical reasons, only a few band members were invited to the studio for individual recordings of instrumental tracks and overdubs, respectively.

Title list

The 12 songs take about 48 minutes. The last piece, Terry 's Song, is often not or only as a hidden track specified. All tracks were written by Bruce Springsteen himself.

  • This song is dedicated to the long-time friend and colleague Springsteen, Terry Magovern, who died on 30 July 2007.

Hit Parade placements

Compared with its predecessor, We Shall Overcome: The Seeger Sessions was Magic of commercially successful, reaching again a number-one ranking in the United States and in Great Britain.
