Magnar Solberg

Magnar Solberg ( born February 4, 1937 in Soknedal (now Midtre Gauldal ), province of Sør -Trøndelag ) is a former Norwegian biathlete.

He won the gold medal over 20 km with 4 x 7.5 km relay silver medal at the 1968 Olympic Winter Games in Grenoble. Sapporo in 1972 he became a 35 -year-old Olympic champion again on the 20 -km distance. In addition, he won 1969-1971 three silver and two bronze medals at the world championships.

He was honored with the Morgenbladet gold medal in 1968.

Solberg was from 1972 on for 34 years and the oldest Olympic Champion of all time in the Winter Games until he was replaced in February 2006 by the then 39 -year-old Canadian Skeleton driver Duff Gibson.
