Magnate

A magnate ( neulateinisch ) is a member of the aristocracy or the court nobility, especially the English, Polish and Hungarian nobility. In a more general sense, the term denotes a magnate landowner or the holder of economic power.

Hungary

The magnates took in Hungary by birth in the representation of the country participate and gathered for this purpose in a special chamber, the magnate panel. From 1861-1918, the Upper House was much like the British House of Lords next to the House of Representatives elected the second legislative chamber. These included the early 20th century:
