Magnus II of Norway

Magnus II (* 1048, † April 28, 1069 ) was from 1066 to 1069 King of Norway.

Magnus was crowned in 1066 by his father Harald Hardrade to the king of Norway before he left Norway to conquer England. Here, Harald was accompanied by his second son Olav. After Harald Hardrade had fallen at the battle of Stamford Bridge, this first went to Orkney in 1067 and returned back to Norway. Back in Norway he demanded his inheritance, as Magnus had to share Norway with his brother. Magnus received while the northern half of the country. The division of Norway led to constant military conflicts of the brothers themselves.
