Magnus Miller Murray

Magnus Miller Murray ( born February 22, 1787 Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, † March 4, 1838 in Pittsburgh ) was an American politician. He was from 1828 to 1830 and again from 1831 to 1832 mayor of the city of Pittsburgh.

Life

Magnus Miller Murray was born in 1787 in Philadelphia, the son of Marry Miller Murray and Alexander Murray. The father was a naval officer during the American War of Independence. Magnus Miller Murray attended the University of Pennsylvania, reaching both a bachelor's and a master. He was married to Mary Wilkins.

His political career began as an understudy Murray of Judge William Wilkins. From 1828 to 1832 he was with a break mayor of Pittsburgh. He was the first mayor of the city, who held this office in two periods.
