Magnus of Anagni

Magnus of Fabrateria vetus, also Magnus of Trani ( † in the 3rd or 4th century in Fabrateria vetus, today: Ceccano in Latium) was holy martyrs.

He was originally a bishop in the Apulian port city of Trani, was forced to flee because of persecution of Christians from there, however. He looked out into the countryside Ciociaria east of Rome and suffered, according to legend, in Fabrateria vetus his martyrdom. A martyrology from 451 calls Magnus at August 19 including the place of Fabrateria vetus. There is also a church was dedicated to him. The current edition of the Roman Martyrology mentions second for 19 August a martyr of Magnus Fabrateria vetus in Lazio. In that regard, is the 19th August, the feast of Saints.

Magnus enjoyed fairly widespread veneration in the lower Latium. His relics were transferred from Fondi after Veroli. When the city was threatened in the 9th century by the Saracens, his relics to Anagni, and according to legend, were transferred after Esen in Friesland.
