Magny-Jobert

Magny- Jobert is a commune in Haute -Saône in the Franche -Comté.

Geography

Magny- Jobert is located at an altitude of 305 m above sea level, 9 km east-southeast of Lure and about 20 km west of the town of Belfort ( a straight line ). The village is located in the eastern part of the department, in the valley of the Clairegoutte, on the western edge of the heights of the Chérimont.

The area of ​​3.68 km ² municipal area comprises a section in the rolling countryside of southeast of the level of Lure. The western part of the area occupied by the basin of the Clairegoutte that provides drainage for Rognon. The Alluvialniederung is on average 300 meters and has a width of around 500 meters. It is used primarily for agricultural purposes.

To the east, the municipality's area extends to the wooded slopes of the Bois de Magny- Jobert, on the 408 meters, the highest elevation of Magny- Jobert is achieved. This height is among the western foothills of Chérimont. It is constructed of red sandstone of the Lower Triassic. The eastern boundary marks the deep valley of the Ruisseau des Battants, a tributary of the Ruisseau de Fau in the catchment of Rognon.

Neighboring communities of Magny- Jobert are Andornay and Clairegoutte in the north, Frédéric -Fontaine in the east, the south and Lomont Lyoffans in the West.

History

The origin of the settlement formed a mill mentioned in the 12th century the monastery Lure at the Clairegoutte. Is mentioned in a document Magny- Jobert in 1547 under the name Maigny Jobert, 1554 as Maingny Jobert and 1600 as Magny Jaber. The present spelling is attested since 1755. The place name derives probably from the Germanic personal name Galbert while Magny goes back to the Latin word mansio ( apartment, hostel). In the Middle Ages Magny- Jobert belonged to the Free County of Burgundy and in the territory of the Bailliage d' amont. Together with the Franche -Comté reached the place with the Peace of Nijmegen in 1678 definitively to France. Today Magny- Jobert is a member of the comprehensive 22 villages municipal association Communauté de communes du Pays de Lure. Magny- Jobert does not have its own church, it belongs to the parish Lyoffans.

Population

With 102 inhabitants ( 1 January 2011) Magny- Jobert one of the smallest municipalities in the department of Haute- Saône. After the population had decreased significantly in the first half of the 20th century (1886 192 persons were still counted ), only relatively small fluctuations were recorded since the early 1950s.

Economy and infrastructure

Magny- Jobert is still a predominantly by agriculture (crops, orchards and livestock ) and forestry embossed village. Outside of the primary sector, there are few jobs in town. Some employed persons are therefore commuters who do their work in the larger towns in the area and in the agglomeration Belfort -Montbéliard.

The village has good transport links. It is located near the secondary road D438 which leads from Lure to Montbéliard and is expanded in this area for four-lane expressway. Further road links exist with Lyoffans, Andornay and Frédéric -Fontaine.
