Magomedrasul Majidov

Magomedrasul Majidov ( Azerbaijani; Məhəmmədrəsul Məcidov, Magomedrasul Medzhidov, born September 27, 1986 in Dagestan ) is an Azerbaijani amateur boxer in the super heavyweight division.

Boxing career

He won the 2009 international Umakhanov Memorial Tournament in Russia and launched in the years 2010/2011 at the World Series of Boxing, where he won each of his seven fights, including against Rustam Saidov and Youth Olympic champion Tony Yoka. In the final of the individual standings, he defeated the Italian Clemente Russo on points.

At the 16th World Championships 2011 in Baku, he won the gold medal. He defeated in each case early in the first round Sardor Abdullayev of Uzbekistan and in the second round Isaias Mena from Colombia and moved into the quarter-finals. There he was able to surprisingly defeat the Cuban favorites Erislandy Savón prematurely and also sat in the semi-final against Ivan Dytschko from Kazakhstan with 16:9 through. In the subsequent final round he narrowly won with 22:21 against the Englishman Anthony Joshua.

In 2012 he won the international Great Silk Way Tournament in Azerbaijan and launched at the 30th Summer Olympic Games in London. He defeated in the first round Meiji Mwamba from the Congo and in the quarterfinals of the reigning European champion Magomed Omarov from Russia. In the semifinals he met the Italian Roberto Cammarelle and lost against this almost with 12:13.

In June 2013 he won the 40th European Championships in Minsk. He sat there in the super heavyweight against Mihai Nistor from Romania, the White Russians Viktor Zuev and the Russians Sergei Kuzmin through. At the World Championships in October 2013 in Almaty, he won against Cam Awesome (USA), Magomed Omarov (Russia), Roberto Cammarelle (Italy) and Ivan Dytschko (Kazakhstan ) and thus secured his second gold medal at a World Cup.
