Magyar Gárda

Classification

The Magyar Gárda is due to their ideological orientation at home and abroad criticized as right-wing, anti-Semitic, neo-fascist and antiziganistisch.

According to self- understanding, the Guard operates the self-defense of " physically, emotionally and mentally defenseless Hungarian nation." Been that they may be so Vona, founded not against someone, but for something.

Activities

The group is divided into the political arena (Magyar Gárda Mozgalom ) and in the " sponsoring organization Hungarian Guard - customs- conservationist Cultural Association" (Magyar Gárda Hagyományőrző és Kulturális Egyesülete ).

The uniformed members of the movement organized marches in public places. Their appearance is reminiscent of the Arrow Cross, which until March 28, 1945 a National Socialist government formed on 16 October 1944 under the tens of thousands of people were murdered.

Since at least 2010, the Guard is also active in Romania and in the form of various factions.

Ban

On 16 December 2008, the sponsoring organization of the Hungarian Guard, after a nearly year-long process, dissolved the Budapest Municipal Court because they violated the human dignity of Roma and other minorities with their parades and events ( see protection of minorities). The sentence was confirmed on 2 July 2009 in the second instance. Wearing the uniform in public since then can be punished with a fine of up to HUF 50,000 (approx. 178 EUR ).

After the ban, the group was formed as a " New Hungarian Guard " new.
