Maha Rat District

Amphoe Maha Rat ( Thai: อำเภอ มหาราช ) is a district ( Amphoe - administrative district ) in the northern part of the province of Ayutthaya. The Ayutthaya Province located in the central region of Thailand.

Geography

Neighboring districts (from north clockwise): Amphoe Ban Phraek Ayutthaya Province, Amphoe Don Phut Province Saraburi, Amphoe Bang Pahan Ayutthaya province Amphoe Pa Mok and, Mueang Ang Thong and Chaiyo Ang Thong province.

History

The area of present-day district was formerly Khwaeng Nakhon Yai. When it was converted to a Amphoe, it received its present name at the same Maha Rat.

Administrative divisions

Amphoe Maha Rat is divided into 12 communes ( tambon), which are further subdivided into 58 villages ( Muban ).

There are two small towns ( thesaban tambon) in the district:

  • Maha Council ( Thai: เทศบาล ตำบล มหาราช ), consisting of the Tambon Maha Rat and Hua Phai.
  • Rong Chang ( Thai: เทศบาล ตำบล โรง ช้าง ), consisting of parts of the Tambon Rong Chang, Nam Tao, Chao Pluk and Phitphian.

Furthermore, there are five Tambon Administration Organizations ( " Tambon Administrative Organizations" - TAO, Thai: องค์การ บริหาร ส่วน ตำบล ).
