The Mahlow railway station is a railway station in the district of the Brandenburg municipality Mahlow Mahlow. It is served by the Berlin S -Bahn line S2.

Location and construction

The station is situated in the hamlet of Mahlow at kilometer 16.8 of the railway line between Berlin and Dresden, a few hundred meters within the Berlin outer ring.

History

The Mahlow station was opened together with the Dresden train on 17 June 1875. Since May 15, 1939 drove electric S -Bahn trains to Mahlow, in October 1940, the S- Bahn line was extended to rank village. In bomb attacks in 1943, the station building was hit and badly damaged.

The construction of the Berlin Wall, the S -Bahn was cut off to the north. Facilities

The station building is located east of the railway tracks. It is essentially a new building, which was founded in 1961, opened shortly before the Wall was built. Mahlow serves as a junction station where the trains on the S2 face on the otherwise single-track line between Lichtenrade and Blank field.
