Mahmut Özdemir

Mahmut Özdemir ( born June 23, 1987 in Duisburg ) is a German politician ( SPD). He was elected in the general election in 2013 with 26 years as the time the youngest member of parliament to parliament.

Origin, study and Private

Mahmut Özdemir grew up as a child of Turkish guest workers Zeki and Aynur Ozdemir in Duisburg- Homberg. He has German citizenship. From 1993 to 1997 he attended the Community Primary School Ottostraße. In 1997, Özdemir on the Franz -Haniel -Gymnasium in Duisburg- Homberg, where he was a high school in 2006. From 2006 to 2010 he studied law at the Heinrich- Heine University in Dusseldorf ( with a focus on public law). The study of law, he completed in 2011 with the first state examination. From June 2011 to May 2013 was Mahmut Özdemir law clerk in the Higher Regional Court of Dusseldorf. Because of his candidacy for the Bundestag Özdemir leave of absence from the legal training to 30 September 2017.

Mahmut Özdemir is single and childless.

SPD member of the Bundestag

The age of 14 ( even as a schoolboy ) was Özdemir 2001 SPD member. He engaged for twelve years in the Duisburg municipal politics and sat in the last district council Homberg / Ruhrort / Baerl. In the general election in 2013 he was a candidate for the constituency of Duisburg II He could win the direct mandate with 43.2% of the primary vote and is the youngest member of the 18th German Bundestag.
