Maiden voyage

As a maiden voyage the first trip of a water or land vehicle is designated under real conditions. The maiden flight on the other hand refers to the first flight of an airplane or airship.

After the design and construction must prove whether the ship really proving its worth at the first ride. The maiden voyage is preceded usually trials and extensive testing.

One particular incident occurred on April 14, 1912, when the luxury liner Titanic collided on its maiden voyage with an iceberg and sank.
