Maikel Aerts

Maikel Aerts ( born June 26, 1976 in Eindhoven ) is a former Dutch football player.

Career

Aerts played for FC Den Bosch, Germinal Beerschot, RBC Roosendaal, Feyenoord and Willem II Tilburg in the Netherlands. In 1997 Aerts was banned for three months due to drug use.

For the season 2010/11 he was engaged as new goalkeeper of Hertha BSC. He should help the club after relegation the club again to lead in the Bundesliga. He signed a contract until 2012 and replaced former goalkeeper Jaroslav Drobný. In the season 2010/11 he came to 24 appearances in the 2nd Bundesliga for Hertha and was instrumental in the fact that the Berlin direct resurgence acquired during this season in the Bundesliga. From the season 2011/12 he lost his place in goal then, however, committed to the FC Bayern München Thomas Kraft. After Aerts had rejected a new contract offer from Hertha BSC before the start of the 2012/13 season, the club announced on June 29, 2012, the separation known.
