Mail sorter

The mail organizing hall (BO), also partially automated mail organizing hall ( Tabo ), is an area in sorting offices of the Deutsche Post AG for sorting and stamping of mail. The shipments from the box collections here are roughly separated by size and machine capability and prepared for further processing.

Format separation

About conveyor belts move the items from the box collections in the mail organizing hall. On release tape format they are sorted by hand on size and format, ie there are separate large and oversize letters of standard and compact letters. For this large and oversize letters are thrown onto another tape, while the remaining items remain on the tape to be later aligned for further processing on machines. Large and oversize letters however go via conveyor belts to stamp squares, as these can only be partially canceled by machines.
