Mailgram

The teleletter is an essentially historical letter postal service, in which the transport of a letter is replaced by faxing the mail via the telephone network or satellite radio or was. History

In the U.S., Western Union introduced the teleletter 1970. Via satellite, these faxes were sent from 1973 between the most industrialized nations. The largest market share they could achieve in the 80s. Since then, they have been displaced by companies that increasingly took their own fax machines in operation.

In Germany the teleletter traffic via the German Federal POSTDIENST was settled. The shipping at admission was also possible on jewelry leaves. International shipping to most countries was only possible via the mail delivery.

The Tele letter today

In Germany and most other countries of the teleletter service has now been set as technically obsolete. In some developing countries it was never introduced. Replacement offer direct faxing, the continuing as a niche product telegram service or the e -mail communication. In some countries (including iTelegram in the U.S.) the teleletter is still offered as a niche product nationally.
