Maillane

Mail Lane is a municipality with 2408 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2011) in southern France in the Provence- Alpes -Cote d' Azur in the department of Bouches -du -Rhône in the Arrondissement Arles Canton of Saint- Remy- de -Provence. The municipality is part of the Communauté de communes Rhône Alpilles Durance.

Geographical Location

The town is located 15 km south of Avignon, 7 km northwest of Saint- Rémy -de- Provence, 3 km southeast of Graveson northwest of the mountain chain of the Alpilles. Up to the beaches of the Camargue or on the Côte Bleue is 60 km.

From the history of the place

As in 1854 in the Provence ruled cholera, took on August 18 inhabitants of the village a Bittprozession in honor of the Virgin Mary. Subsequently, the epidemic came to an end. Since then, each year, a procession takes place where the statue of "Notre Dame de Grâce " is worn in memory of the miracle around the village.
