Main-Sieg-Express

The Main -Sieg- Express is a regional express line in the transport of the states of North Rhine -Westphalia and Hesse of victories over Giessen to Frankfurt am Main. It is operated by the Hessian State Railways ( HLB).

On 25 June 2008, the Rhine - Main Transport Association ( RMV) and on the Association transport Westphalia -Lippe ( NWL ) in a joint press release announced that the Hessian State Railways ( HLB) has won the European tender and thus from 12 December 2010 will take over the operation on the line for 13 years. Until the change of timetable 2010/2011 in December 2010, DB Regio Hessen was operator of this line, which was first established after the abolition of the long-distance transport between Siegen- Angsleah and Frankfurt in 2001 as InterRegio Express. Due to capacity problems on the Main- Weser Railway line, however, was coined in the early years against the Interregio of a much longer journey time. Travel connections with a change in casting were up to 20 minutes faster than the direct connection. Only the shift of the IC 26 in the line tight timetable between Giessen and Frankfurt in December 2009 enabled the Main -Sieg- Express again short travel times, almost like InterRegio times.

Before the change of operator in 2010 the two hourly short runners were to Giessen performed by bound trains of DB Regio NRW, Cologne.
