Maine Northern Railway

The Maine Northern Railway (MNR ) is an American Short Line Railroad Company, based in Oakfield (Maine). It is a subsidiary of Saint John (New Brunswick ) seated New Brunswick Southern Railway ( NBSR ) and belongs to such as these JDIrving Group. The company manages a rail network of 376 kilometers in length, which is used exclusively in the carriage of goods.

History

The MNR was founded on May 24, 2011 in Delaware to the in Maine (United States) to manage lying northern part of the network of the Montreal, Maine and Atlantic Railway (MMA). This had become necessary after the MMA the routes no longer wanted to operate and had sold to the state of Maine. On 1 July 2011, the MNR leased the routes from the state. This is valid for Millinocket - Oakfield - Squa Pan -Fort Kent Madawaska, Oakfield - Houlton, Squa Pan - Presque Isle- Caribou - Limestone and Presque Isle Fort Fairfield. The tracks were from 1893 to 1910 built in the years by the Bangor and Aroostook Railroad.

Route network

The railway company does not own any vehicles, but received the NBSR Locomotive 9801 the label of the MNR. The freight itself is carried out by the NBSR.
