Maine Senate

The Senate of Maine (Maine State Senate ) is the upper house of the Maine Legislature, the legislature of the U.S. state of Maine.

The chamber of parliament is composed of 35 Senators representing an electoral district respectively. Unlike the House of Representatives from Maine sit in the Senate no non-voting delegates for the indigenous population. Because the Senate is hosted by Maine on a part time basis, the deputies usually go after a sideline. The meeting room of the Senate is located together with the House of Representatives in the Maine State House in the capital, Augusta.

Tasks of the Senate

The Senate of Maine fall As in upper houses in other states and territories, as well as in the U.S. Senate compared to the House of Representatives special tasks that go beyond the law. So it is up to the Senate, nominations of the Governor in his cabinet to accept or reject other offices of the executive branch and commissions and authorities.

Structure of the chamber

Maine is one of four states besides Arizona, Oregon and Wyoming, which have no lieutenant governor. This incumbent acts in the other upper houses of the States as the head of the respective Senate. Instead, it is in its own Main Senate President.
