Neighboring communities

Main valley is bordered to the north by the municipalities Niederdorfelden and Schoeneck, to the east of Hanau, in the south - separated by the Main - in Mülheim am Main ( Offenbach district ) and the city of Offenbach ( Offenbach- Rumpenheim ) and in the west to the Frankfurt neighborhoods Fechenheim and Bergen- Enkheim.

History

The city was formed on July 1, 1974 as part of the Hessian government reform out of the city and the communities Dörnigheim Bishop Home, Hochstadt and Wachenbuchen. In a survey conducted before the amalgamation, most citizens suggested the name " Main City " before.
